When we set off in July, 2009 to grant the last wish of our beloved uncle and brother, Will McFarland (for us to find his long-lost daughter, Ashley), we never imagined that we would be on the receiving end of an incredible outpouring of support from friends, our community, the press and, ultimately, strangers all over the country. Our search team grew stronger with each person who pledged time and effort to our cause, people who were inspired by Will's wish of spreading love and finding forgiveness. A Wish for Ashley grew to over 10,000 members strong, and together our team located Ashley on January 13, 2010.
Now, Team Will McFarland/A Wish for Ashley lives on (plus one famous member- the One Ashley we were looking for!) to continue spreading Will's message of love and hope. We raise money for the Jimmy Fund to support compassionate care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and we run a holiday sharing program for families in the Merrimack Valley in December.
